The Health Research & Educational Trust (HRET), an affiliate of the American Hospital Association (AHA), has been awarded a contract by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to support their Partnership for Patients (PfP) campaign. PfP is a public-private partnership that intends to help improve the quality, safety and affordability of health care for all Americans. The project assists hospitals with adopt new practices that have the potential to reduce inpatient harm by 40 percent and readmissions by 20 percent.
The North Dakota Hospital Engagement Network is a collaboration of the North Dakota Hospital Association (NDHA), North Dakota Health Care Review, Inc. (NDHCRI), and HRET. North Dakota's Network currently has 28 facilities enrolled with participation continuing through December 2013.
The PfP focuses on ten areas for quality improvement. Within these areas, participating hospitals will be coached to implement proven best practices and lessons learned through the use of webinars and educational sessions. HRET will provide education and training with over 1,600 hospitals recruited by its 34 state hospital association partners on a national level, while NDHCRI will support this education and training at a local level. Training will focus on support of quality improvement efforts in the following targeted areas:
