Advancing Excellence in America's
Nursing Homes
A broad-based
coalition of long-term
care providers, medical and quality improvement experts, government
agencies, and consumer advocacy groups has launched an initiative to
improve the quality of care for the country's 1.5 million nursing home
residents. The two-year, voluntary campaign, "Advancing
Excellence in America's Nursing Homes," is building on the success of
other quality initiatives like Quality First, the Nursing Home Quality
Initiative (NHQI), and the culture change movement.
The eight campaign goals are
comprised of four clinical quality goals and four organizational
improvement goals. The clinical quality goals are to reduce the
prevalence of pressure ulcers and daily use of physical restraints, and
to improve pain management for both short-stay and long-stay nursing
home residents. The organizational improvement goals encourage
nursing homes to set quality improvement targets, measure customer
satisfaction, implement consistent assignment and work to improve staff
retention and satisfaction.

Excellence in America's Nursing Homes Participating Provider, take the
