If You Have
Questions About
Your Care
If you have questions about your
health
care rights or the quality of medical care you receive, call North
Dakota
Health Care Review, Inc.’s Beneficiary Helpline at 1-800-472-2902.
If you
are told to leave the hospital before you feel you are ready because
Medicare feels that you no longer require an acute inpatient level of
care, you should:
- Talk to your doctor.
- Ask for a written notice
that
says Medicare
may not pay for your continued hospital care (a Notice of
Noncoverage). *
- Call North Dakota Health
Care
Review,
Inc. for a review as soon as you get your written notice of noncoverage.
* When this
happens, ask a hospital
representative
for a written explanation right away. This is called a Notice of
Noncoverage.
You must have this when you request a review by North Dakota Health
Care
Review, Inc. (NDHCRI). You need to contact NDHCRI (the QIO) at
1-800-472-2902, no later than your planned discharge date and before
you leave the hospital. You will receive a detailed notice from
the hospital that explains the reasons they think you are ready to be
discharged. NDHCRI (the QIO) will review your medical records and
other important information about your case. NDHCRI will notify
you of its decision within one (1) day after it receives all the
necessary information.
