NORTH DAKOTA HEALTH CARE REVIEW, INC.
Know Your
Rights
As a Medicare beneficiary, you have a right to:
- Receive all of the care necessary for the proper diagnosis and
treatment of your illness or injury.
- Have your discharge date be determined only by your medical needs
and not by Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG) or Medicare payment.
- Be involved in decisions concerning your health care.
- Be fully informed about decisions affecting your Medicare
coverage and payment of services.
- Appeal any written notice you receive from the hospital or from
Medicare stating they will no longer pay for your care.
- Seek assistance from a discharge planner. The hospital discharge
planner will work with you and your family members to plan and arrange
for care you may need when you leave the hospital.
- Review the quality of your care. If you have questions about the
quality of care you received or if you feel you were discharged from
the hospital too soon, call North Dakota Health Care Review, Inc.
(NDHCRI).
Know Your
Responsibilities
As a Medicare beneficiary, your responsibilities are:
- Talk to your doctor about your concerns regarding your medical
care.
- Become an educated health care consumer; take an active role in
making changes that will help you lead a healthier life.
- Understand what Medicare covers and does not cover.
